28 August 2025
The School held its Undergraduate Convocation on 28 August. In her first address as Dean of Chinese Medicine, Professor Li Min encouraged the freshmen to persevere in pursuit of knowledge, stay true to their aspirations, and strive to become Chinese medicine professionals of moral integrity and professional excellence, thereby further enhancing the reputation of “HKBU Chinese Medicine.”
Two distinguished alumni shared their valuable insights with the new students. Chinese Medicine alumnus Mr. Koo Hoi-lun Alan quoted the modern master of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Yue Meizhong (岳美中), urging the freshmen to always remain humble and self-reflective and to prioritise the well-being of their patients above all. He emphasised that moral character is essential for TCM practitioners as well as in life. Mr. Lam Ka-hei Terence, a Chinese pharmacy alumnus, shared his personal experiences of campus life and study, encouraging the students to be proactive and engage in diverse activities that broaden their horizons and foster personal growth.
The Robing Ceremony, a time-honoured tradition, was presided over by Professor Chen Hubiao and Dr Zhang Qingling. The entire cohort stood to recite the Chinese Medicine Student Charter, solemnly pledging to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and embody the values of utmost sincerity and consummate skill.
The arrival of the new cohort brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to SCM. As they embark on their academic journey, the School looks forward to witnessing their growth and transformative contributions to global health in the years to come.
