Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) held the Honorary Doctoral Degree Conferment Ceremony on 18 November and conferred the Doctor of Science, honoris causa, upon Professor Tan Weihong, nominated by the School of Chinese Medicine, in recognition of his pioneering contributions to aptamer research and applications, bioanalysis, and molecular medicine. This year, a total of five distinguished individuals have been conferred honorary doctoral degrees. The Ceremony was presided over by Dr Clement Chen, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU.
On the same day, Professor Tan Weihong delivered a distinguished lecture organised by SCM. Titled “Aptomics Lead to Multiomics”, the lecture showcased Professor Tan’s research experience and insights in the field of molecular medicine. He emphasised three core elements of success: Intelligence Quotient, Emotional Quotient and Happiness Quotient, and encouraged researchers to adopt a positive and proactive attitude in their work to enhance efficiency. Over 100 attendees from SCM and the Faculty of Science were deeply inspired.
The School extends its heartfelt congratulations to Professor Tan on his conferment of the Doctor of Science, honoris causa, and looks forward to further collaboration with him in the realm of molecular medicine.
