Two outstanding students from the Bachelor of Chinese Medicine and Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biomedical Science programme, Chen Chi-kiu (Year 4) and Yip Ka-yan (Year 5), have been awarded HK$150,000 each from the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2023. This scholarship is a joint initiative by the Innovation and Technology Commission, HSBC, and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
Chi-kiu believes that collaboration between Chinese and Western medicine is crucial for the development of the medical system. The scholarship will enable her to gain a more comprehensive understanding of this collaboration by participating in various programmes offered by institutions in Mainland China and overseas.
Ka-yan aims to develop collaborative treatments for cancer patients by combining Chinese herbal drug extraction and chemotherapy drug therapies. She is currently undertaking her practicum at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and plans to expand her knowledge of cutting-edge oncology treatments, including genetic therapies, by taking online courses from prestigious universities.
The School is proud that both Chi-kiu and Ka-yan are among the 25 award recipients of the Innovation and Technology Scholarship this year. This is a significant achievement for our Chinese medicine students and reflects their extraordinary creativity and enthusiasm towards InnoTech along with their dedication to the field of Chinese medicine. Please join us in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition.
