The celebration of World Intellectual Property Day at HKBU was marked by insightful presentations and robust panel discussions that took place on April 24th, 2018.
Our distinguished speakers provided a comprehensive look into various IP issues relevant to academia. Ms. May Chan, Trademark Attorney/ Solicitor, Spruson & Ferguson Hong Kong, initiated the conversation with a detailed presentation on trademarks, offering clarity on what can often be a perplexing subject.
The subsequent sessions, helmed by Mr. Ryan Ng, Senior Solicitor, Intellectual Property Department of the Government of HKSAR, Ms. Alice Lee, Associate Dean of faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong and Ms. Lyndsey Dixon Regional Editorial Director Asia Pacific, Taylor & Francis, provided a deep dive into copyright laws, their application in education and research, and the nuances of publishing. Each presentation was tailored to demystify the complexities surrounding IP and to empower attendees with practical knowledge.
Under the adept facilitation of Ir. Dr Alfred Tan, Head of Knowledge Transfer Office, HKBU, the panel discussions fostered an environment where attendees could engage directly with IP experts, addressing pressing questions and concerns.
We extend our gratitude to the speakers for their invaluable contributions and to all participants for their active engagement. The success of this event was a reflection of the collective commitment to understanding and navigating the landscape of intellectual property.
