Ensuring the safety of food is paramount in achieving sustainability, security, and good health. This year, HKBU will participate in the China International Food Safety & Quality (CIFSQ) Conference, the Asia-Pacific’s largest and most influential professional event in the field, to share our expertise and innovation on food protection and safety, highlighting the University’s strengths in research and development in this critical area.

Prof. Terrence Lau, HKBU Interim Chief Innovation Officer and Food Safety Consortium Chairman, will speak on the topic “Food Safety During and After COVID-19 Pandemic”, sharing his perspective on how innovation can enhance food security and what measures can be taken to enhance confidence for different stakeholders in our co-existence with the virus. Prof. Furong Zhu from Department of Physics will present his innovation, “Traceable Fruit Quality Detection Technology and IoT Solution”, introducing how the technology can help maintain consistent quality information throughout the production and distribution process. HKBU will also exhibit at the event to display the University’s latest food-related technology and solutions.

CIFSQ Conference is a prominent event in the food industry and has been running annually for 17 years. The conference brings together regulators, scientists, industry executives, technologists, and academics to share knowledge, foster collaboration and discuss important issues in the food area, with the aim of promoting food safety and quality throughout the industry. This year, the conference will cover a range of featured topics, including food allergen control, special purpose foods, medicine food homology, food integrity & authenticity, etc.
