HKBU received a generous donation of HK$1 million from Mr and Mrs Stanley Chu to establish an endowment fund in support of the “Stanley and Annie Chu Chinese Medicine Scholarship”. Starting from the 2025/26 academic year, the Scholarship will be awarded annually to four Year 6 undergraduate students of the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) who have demonstrated outstanding performance in their clinical internships and specialty studies. Each awardee will receive HK$10,000 to encourage their continued pursuit of academic and professional excellence.

Mr and Mrs Stanley Chu, Honorary Presidents of the HKBU Foundation, have been staunch supporters of the University, contributing to various meaningful initiatives over the years. Their benefactions include funding activities organised by the Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning, supporting the “Academy of Visual Arts Development Fund” and the “Albert and Mabel Chan Exchange Scholarship”, as well as sponsoring the acquisition of equipment for SCM’s Chinese Medicine Museum. Mr Chu also served on the HKBU Foundation’s Board of Governors from 2009 to 2011, offering wise counsel on the University’s fundraising endeavours.

As the Founder and Chairman of the Adsale Group, Mr Chu has achieved remarkable success in the exhibition services industry and was named one of the top 10 outstanding figures in China’s exhibition industry. In 2008, Mr Chu co-founded The Musketeers Education and Culture Charitable Foundation Limited with Dr the Hon Lawrence Fung and Mr Leong Ka-chai, which is dedicated to promoting creativity, education, and arts and culture. In recognition of his significant contributions to education and the community, Mr Chu was conferred an Honorary University Fellowship by The University of Hong Kong in 2011.
