The Office of Student Affairs hosted the Scholarship and Financial Aid Donor Appreciation Reception 2023-24 on 30 May to express the University’s gratitude to donors for their generosity and continuous support. The reception, attended by 240 donors, staff and students, also provided an opportunity for the beneficiaries to thank the donors in person.
In his remarks, Professor Alex Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, said that over 3,000 scholarships and more than 170 bursaries and emergency grants were awarded to students in the 2023-24 academic year, totalling about HK$105 million. He expressed his gratitude to the donors for easing the financial burdens of students and motivating them to strive for academic excellence and personal growth. Professor Wai also highlighted the impact of the First-Generation University Student Fund, which has supported over 2,000 students since its inception in 2017, enabling them to realise their potential and engage in diverse learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom setting.
