HKBU received a generous donation of HK$5 million from Laboratory JaneClare Limited for the establishment of JaneClare Transdermal TCM Therapy Laboratory, in support of product and talent development for the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM).
In recognition of the donor’s generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held on 21 November and officiated by Chairman of Laboratory JaneClare Limited Ms Angela Lee, HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin, Vice-President (Research and Development) Professor Rick Wong, Dean of SCM Professor Lyu Aiping, and Associate Director of the SCM Technology Development Division Professor Yu Zhiling.
In his address, Professor Roland Chin said the collaboration is a significant one. He added that Laboratory JaneClare Limited and HKBU’s SCM share the same vision and goal to explore and conduct research for the benefit of people’s health. The high-calibre research teams will use state-of-the-art technology to develop new treatments and drugs from Chinese herbs.
Ms Angela Lee said Laboratory JaneClare Limited produces quality skincare products and HKBU’s SCM plays a leading role in Chinese medicine research publications and citations, therefore the collaboration will definitely lead to more quality, effective and healthy beauty products.
The representatives attending the ceremony included Executive Directors Mr Charles Lo and Mr Joseph Lee, Customer Relations Manager Miss Fiona Leung of Laboratory JaneClare Limited, Programme Director of Bachelor of Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine Programme of HKBU Professor Chen Hubiao, and Secretary-General of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation Mrs Lily Chan.
