HKBU signs agreement with Simon Fraser University to explore collaboration opportunities

HKBU and Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen ties between both parties and to enhance future academic collaboration.

Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU and Professor Andrew Petter, President and Vice-Chancellor of SFU signed the agreement at HKBU on 30 October.

Under the agreement, both universities will explore the collaboration of 2+2 and double degree programmes; exchange of scholarly publications and information; exchange of faculty, staff, and students; development of study abroad opportunities; development of collaborative research programmes or projects of mutual interest; discussion of academic and administrative developments, including co-sponsorship of symposia, seminars and conferences; cooperation in the development of education generally, including the potential for offering joint programmes; and pursuit of consulting and project opportunities.

Professor Roland Chin is pleased with the agreement, stating: “SFU is one of the leading comprehensive universities in Canada, and is ranked one of the top universities in the world. I am sure our collaboration will lead to many innovative projects that can bring enormous benefits to both universities in internationalisation, research, teaching and learning.”
