Daniel Chan (Physical Education and Recreation Management, Year 1) clinched one silver and two bronze medals in the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2017.
In the mixed doubles category, Daniel fought into the final round and eventually gained a silver medal. Winning all games in the preliminary round, he proceeded to the semi-finals in both men’s singles and doubles where he was beaten by Korean athletes but managed to earn two bronze medals.
Daniel sincerely thanked HKBU for its comprehensive support which enables him to strike a good balance between training, taking part in competitions and his studies. He said, “Members of the Department of Physical Education fully understand and consider athletes’ individual circumstances so that we can participate in training and competitions without any concerns. I can manage my schedule well as lecturers are kind enough to explain to us the objectives, expected level of knowledge and workload of every single course. They also help us catch up with the study progress through various channels after we take leave.” He will focus on his studies for the remainder of this semester, as he will take part in a number of badminton competitions in the second half of this year.
