HKBU’s European Union Academic Programme has organised an exhibition entitled “City Smart Development in Europe: Vienna” to present a vision of the smart development, strategic planning and liveability of Vienna, the capital of Austria.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government; Mrs Maria Vassilakou, Deputy Mayor and Vice-Governor of Vienna, Executive City Councillor for Urban Planning, Traffic & Transport, Climate Protection, Energy and Public Participation; and Professor Rick Wong, HKBU’s Vice-President (Research and Development). The guests of honour were Mr Paul Chan, Secretary for Development of the HKSAR Government; Dr Claudia Reinprecht, Consul General of Austria for Hong Kong and Macao; Ms Carmen Cano, Head of the EU Office in Hong Kong; and Mr Ling Kar-kan, Director of Planning of the HKSAR Government.
The exhibition, co-organised with the Austrian Consulate General and the City Gallery, showcases the main themes and projects of Vienna’s Smart City Wien Framework Strategy 2014-2050. The exhibition’s focus is on issues that are comparable to the Hong Kong situation in six thematic dimensions: smart economy, smart mobility, smart environment, smart people, smart living and smart government. It is on show at the City Gallery until 31 January 2017. In parallel with the exhibition, a series of roundtable discussions and seminars will be held with experts and experienced practitioners from Vienna and Hong Kong.
