More than 28,000 prospective applicants and visitors joined the Information Day for Undergraduate Admission on 15 October. They gained the most up-to-date information on the University’s development and its undergraduate programmes and experienced HKBU’s unique campus life.
Today’s featured events included a feature talk on “Navigate JUPAS admissions, explore HKBU programmes”, and two talks on Non-JUPAS admissions for sub-degree students and students with international qualifications. Visitors also met with HKBU scholars, students and alumni to learn more about individual programmes, admission requirements and career prospects at briefings and sharing sessions organised by various faculties and schools.
Guided tours, conducted by student ambassadors, were arranged to give visitors a closer look at the student hostels, teaching facilities and laboratories and to let them get a taste of the rich and diversified on-campus experiences.
Dr So Kwok-sang, Academic Registrar, said that a new “Entrepreneurship Concentration” will be offered as part of the Bachelor of Business Administration programme in the coming academic year, which aims to foster within students an entrepreneurial spirit and a global vision. Through a multi-disciplinary and practical approach, students will gain entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, mindset and experience to prepare them for business venturing, growth and development in both a local and an international environment.
Dr So said there would be changes in the arrangement of the JUPAS programmes, for example, the Bachelor of Business Administration would adopt a parallel approach of “concentration-based” and “programme-based” admission, for which applicants could select either their favourite choice among the six individual concentrations, or choose to apply for the Programme and wait until year two to select their favourite concentration. In the Bachelor of Communication programme, the Film Major (Animation and Media Arts Concentration) will also be changed to “concentration-based” admission.
