Alumni associations in different parts of the world held gatherings to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their alma mater.

The HKBU Alumni Association of Australia (HKBUAAA) organised a 60th Anniversary Dinner in Sydney. Held in August, it was attended by Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Sydney) Mr Arthur Au, the first elected Chinese-born parliamentarian in Australia Dr Helen Sham Ho, HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Roland Chin and representatives of alumni associations of sister institutions in Australia.

During the dinner, President Chin shared with President of HKBUAAA Mr Sidney Cheng and 80 participating alumni and friends his vision and plan to bring HKBU to the next level of success. He later led the cake-cutting ceremony in honour of HKBU’s 60th birthday.

In Hong Kong, alumni of the School of Communication held their homecoming dinner on 10 September with more than 200 alumni, staff and guests. While they were on campus reminiscing about their university days, President Chin kept them abreast of the latest development of their alma mater.

The dinner was also attended by Honorary University Fellow Mr Raymond Wong, who became the second person to assume the role of Head of the then Department of Communication; Mr Chang Chi-wu, son of the third Head of the Department of Communication Mr Chang Kuo-sin; Dr Amen Ng, President of HKBU Communication Alumni Association, as well as vice-presidents and university staff.
