HKBU has taken up the convenorship of the Hong Kong Sustainable Campus Consortium (HKSCC) for this year and hosted a meeting last Friday (10 June) to discuss possible campus energy saving actions with members from eight universities in Hong Kong.

In response to the COP 21 Paris Agreement on climate change, five representatives from the Environment Bureau, including Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment, were invited to attend the meeting to present the Energy Saving Plan for Hong Kong 2015~2025+. Mr Wong highlighted at the meeting the important role of the building management sector in any energy saving action plan and shared examples and possible actions on how universities can contribute to the target. HKSCC members also shared the on-going energy conservation measures and initiatives implemented on their campus.

HKSCC was established in 2010 by the Heads of Universities Committee aiming at encouraging the ongoing efforts of the member universities in their development and implementation of best practices on sustainability related issues through research and teaching, campus policies and operations, community outreach and knowledge exchange.
