HKBU invited scholars and experts from around the globe to deliberate on developments in whole person education at an international symposium “Whole person education: Christian and philosophical perspectives” which was held on 1 and 2 June on campus.
The Symposium is one of the celebratory events of HKBU’s 60th anniversary. Professor Perry Glanzer, Professor of Educational Foundations, Resident Scholar of Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion of Baylor University in the US, delivered a keynote speech on “The Grand Quest Essential to Whole Person Education: Discovering our True Identity”.
Scholars who delivered papers in the event included: Professor Michael Beaty of Baylor University, Professor Bernard Li, Former President of Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, Professor Sun Hsiao-chih of National Taiwan University, Dr Paul Spears of Biola University in the US, Professor Lee Wing-on, Vice President of the Open University of Hong Kong, as well as Professor Cindy Chu, Professor Kwan Kai-man, Professor Lo Ping-cheung, Professor Ma Hin-keung, Professor Lauren Pfister and Dr Ng Yau-nang of HKBU.
Heads of student affairs and services from seven local higher education institutions also gathered to discuss the delivery of whole person education in universities in Hong Kong during the Panel Discussion session.
