Renee Wong, Year 4 student of Human Resources Management, School of Business, was recently selected as the second runner-up for a scholarship presented by the Human Capital Management Society of the Hong Kong Management Association, to be used towards enhancing her knowledge in human resources, and improving her communication and presentation skills.

This year, nominated scholarship recipients were required to submit a written essay and deliver a presentation to a panel of adjudicators comprising local academics on the topic of “How HR practitioners can help in managing human capital to achieve aspirations and unleash employees’ full potential so that they can further advance Hong Kong’s competitiveness for the benefit of corporations and the community at large?”.

Renee’s confidence and responsiveness to the adjudicators’ follow-up questions were particularly impressive. She was excited to receive the scholarship prize and commented that the assessment process itself was more valuable than the recognition. She said: “The competition gave me a chance to discuss the current issues in human resources with the adjudicators and this experience helped broaden my horizons and enhanced my knowledge in human resources.”
