The Office of Student Affairs held the annual Scholarship and Bursary Donors’ Tea Reception on 26 April to express its gratitude to donors for their generosity and untiring support to the University over the years and to provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to thank the donors in person.

This year, HKBU received generous donations from more than 230 organisations, professional bodies, firms and individuals. Over 1,700 scholarship and bursary awards totalling around HK$41 million were presented to around 1,500 outstanding students from different Faculties and Schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, said that the University recorded a growth of 38% and 34% in the number of scholarships and bursaries offered and the total donation amount received respectively in this academic year when compared to the 2011-12 academic year. This has been made possible by the steady climb in donations over the past years.

Professor Chin also shared three stories of students, whose scholarships enabled them to experience the world and serve society. He expressed his gratitude to the donors for their support and looked forward to their continued partnership with HKBU in nurturing brilliant leaders of tomorrow.
