The School of Business recently received the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development for another three-year term. With this re-accreditation obtained from EQUIS following the initial recognition in 2013, the School of Business has become one of the few business schools worldwide to hold accreditations from the three major management education associations, namely EQUIS, the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) in the UK. This multiple accreditation status reflects the School’s high level with regards local and international benchmarks, and represents its continuous commitment to excellence.
The EQUIS reviewers visited the School of Business earlier this year and examined all aspects of teaching and learning, research as well as management of the school as a whole. The Peer Review Team was impressed with the School’s excellent performance in teaching and learning, and its growing research output and quality. Their feedback was positive, in particular its praise of the School’s strong commitment to teaching quality and care for students, underpinned by HKBU’s ethos of whole person education. The School also received re-accreditation from AACSB for another five-year term in March this year.
The EQUIS accreditation was founded by the European Foundation for Management Development in 1997. It places an emphasis on the international dimension of business schools’ activities, their interface with the corporate world, and ethos of promoting responsible management. Its approach to quality assessment is rooted in a respect for diversity in institutional and cultural contexts.
