Student delegations win numerous awards at Model United Nations Conferences

HKBU student delegations are delighted to receive numerous honours at the three Model United Nations Conferences held in City University of Hong Kong (top photo), Rome (centre) and New York (bottom)

 

Two student delegations of HKBU recently took part in three Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences held in Rome, New York and City University of Hong Kong. With their brilliant performance in the conferences, the delegations gained a number of Honourable Mentions and an Outstanding Delegation Award.

 

This year’s Rome MUN Conference attracted about 1,000 students from all over the world. The HKBU delegation represented countries including Spain, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Korea and France in different simulated committees to discuss a range of controversial international issues. Ha Giabao (Faculty of Social Sciences, Year 1) won the Honourable Mention for his outstanding performance. Another student delegation, representing the Republic of Latvia at the National MUN Conference in New York, was named the Honourable Mention Delegation.

 

At the MUN Conference in City University of Hong Kong, the HKBU delegation showcased their excellent diplomatic skills through their speeches and discussions. Among the delegates, Tsoi Man-chim (Social Work, Year 2) with his partner Chan Kin-ho (Government and International Studies, Year 2); Ha Giabao with his partner Lin Sihan (Associate Degree, Year 1); Lam Kam-ling (History, Year 2) with her partner Yu Tianxiaoshan (Sociology, Year 2); Poon Tsz-fung (Broadcast Journalism, Year 3) and Choy York-borg (International Journalism, Year 2) were awarded the Honourable Mention. The Outstanding Delegation Award was presented to Chan Wang-ka (Faculty of Social Sciences, Year 1) and his partner Leung Hoi-ching (History, Year 2).
