Annual Golf Day raises HK$1.23 million for University’s long-term development

The University held its annual Golf Day at Xili Golf and Country Club, Shenzhen last Friday (6 November). The HKBU•EVOKK Golf Day 2015 attracted 160 participants including 123 contestants who formed 32 teams to compete for 19 awards. The event successfully raised HK$1.23 million in support of the University’s long-term development.

 

Officiating at the Tee-Off Ceremony were Mr Allan Kwong, Title Sponsor and Group President of Regal Holdings Corporation; Dr Ronald Lu and Ir Dr Wong Kwok-keung, Co-Chairmen of the Organising Committee; Mr So Wing-kin, Vice-Chairman of the Organising Committee; Mr William Leung, Chairman of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation; and Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor.

 

After rounds of vigorous competition, the Elite Team won the overall championship while the first runner-up and second runner-up prizes went to Mr Albert Au’s team and Sun Hung Kai Properties Team respectively. Mr William Leung’s team captured the Alumni Cup.

 

In the individual contests, several prizes were newly established this year. Mr Donald Man scooped the Best Gross prize while Mr Timothy Lam won the Most Gross Birdies. Both Mr Ye Zhijian and Mr Albert Au clinched the Most Gross Pars.

 

In addition, Mr Edward Chiu claimed the Net Score championship, Mr Zheng Deliang won the first runner-up, while both Mr Harry Lam and Mr Jackie Wong won the second runner-up prize. The Longest Drive for Gentlemen prize went to Mr Derek Yuen while the Longest Drive for Ladies went to student Lisa van Lange. The awards for the Closest to the Pin were presented to Mr Ron Tsang and Mr Eric Yeung respectively. Mr Albert Au was awarded the Closest to the Line prize.

 

As one of the major fundraising and fellowship events, the cumulative proceeds raised by the Golf Day which is now in its 12th year has reached over HK$12 million.
