29 Oct 2015

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the University, a group of alumni across disciplines and generations gathered together to produce a “We are BUddies” Alumni Show which will be staged on 30 January 2016 at the Academic Community Hall.

Over 100 HKBU alumni have come together to produce and perform in the multimedia Alumni Show, which encompasses drama, orchestra, microfilms, dance, singing, recitation and magic show to showcase HKBU alumni’s talents and all-rounded competence.

Organised by the Alumni Affairs Office, a media briefing was held yesterday to announce the details of the Alumni Show. The event was officiated by Mr Cheng Yan-kee, Chairman of the Council and the Court and Chairman of Steering Committee of HKBU 60th Anniversary; Mrs Doreen Chan, Treasurer of the Council and the Court; Professor Roland Chin, President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Frank Fu, Associate Vice-President and Chairman of Co-ordinating Committee of HKBU 60th Anniversary, and alumnus Ronald Chiu, Chairman of Organising Committee on Alumni Events of HKBU 60th Anniversary.

A number of participating HKBU alumni and friends also attended the event to show support, including Dr Chung King-fai, Mr Lau Siu-ming, Mr Liu Kai-chi, Miss Cherry Ngan, Mr Louis Yan, and Mr Francis Mak. Also present at the event were Mr Lawrence Cheng, Advisor and Producer of the Alumni Show, Mr Patrick Siu, Working Group Leader and Producer of the Alumni Show; Mr Cheng Kwok-kong, lyric writer of the 60th anniversary theme song and Mr Albert Au, creator of the 60th anniversary theme song.

In addressing the audience, Mr Cheng Yan-kee said that in the 60 years between its founding and the present day, HKBU’s endeavour to grow has been, in no small part, contributed by a group of dedicated staff and nearly 90,000 alumni who are now spread all across the globe, and just for the show, over 100 alumni and friends have joined hands to produce a spectacular performance featuring a variety of exciting art forms, showcasing their all-round talents.

Professor Roland Chin extended his heartfelt thanks to those alumni who have dedicated their time, efforts and above all, their sincerity, to the 60th anniversary of their alma mater.

Mr Ronald Chiu shared that in anticipation of an unprecedented response and limited seats in the Academic Community Hall, the show will be simultaneously broadcast via the internet so that all HKBU alumni and friends around the world will be able to enjoy it.
