The Office of Student Affairs held the annual Scholarship and Bursary Donors’ Tea Reception on 30 April to express its gratitude to donors for their generosity and continuous support to the University over the years and to provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to thank the donors in person.

This year, HKBU received generous donations from more than 180 organisations, professional bodies, firms and individuals. Over 1,200 scholarship awards totalling around HK$30 million were presented to nearly 1,000 outstanding students from different Faculties and Schools. In addition, around 220 students were granted a total of HK$2.6 million in bursaries and loans donated by 30 organisations or individuals.

Speaking at the occasion, Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their generosity and continuous support to the University and hoped they would continue to be HKBU’s partners in nurturing brilliant leaders of tomorrow. President Chan said scholarships are a way for society to nurture talent in a manner that not only benefits students’ personal development, but also enables them to contribute to the community using their professional knowledge after graduation.
