HKBU held its 58th Anniversary Founders’ Day Thanksgiving Service today (5 March) during which the University recognised four academic staff for their outstanding performance in teaching, scholarly work, and service, as well as two outstanding young researchers. In addition, 148 colleagues who had served the University for 10 years or more were presented with Long Service Awards honouring their dedicated contribution to the development of HKBU.
The six HKBU academic staff who were presented the President’s Awards for Outstanding Performance are: Dr. Candy Ho Ka-yan, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing, who received the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching; Professor Michael Ng Kwok-po, Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Professor Zhang Hongsheng, Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, who were granted the President’s Awards for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work; Professor Jonathan Wong Woon-chung, Professor of the Department of Biology, who was presented with the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Service; Dr. Ge Liang, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, and Dr. Edmond Ma Dik-lung, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry, who were selected as Outstanding Young Researchers.
On the occasion, Long Service Awards were presented to 148 HKBU colleagues. This year, a total of 59 colleagues received awards for 10 or 15 years of service, 62 colleagues for the 20 years of service, 24 colleagues for 25 years of service, and three colleagues in total for the 30 and 35 years of service.
