Alumni recall good old days in HKBU on Homecoming Day

30 Oct 2013

The Alumni Affairs Office organised the annual Alumni Homecoming Day from 26-28 October. Alumni who graduated in different years had the opportunity to recall their happy memories at HKBU through three days of comprehensive programmes.

The array of activities on Homecoming Day under the theme “Good Old Days at HKBU” included an alumni cocktail reception, an alumni investiture ceremony, an alumni dinner, a campus tour, etc. The HKBU Alumni Association of Southern California travelled a long way to perform a Cantonese Opera on campus. In addition, the Century Club, an alumni organisation, also staged an event called “Grandeur Cha Cha Cha” to share their joy with alumni through a charity auction, singing and dancing performances.

This year is the Golden Jubilee of the HKBU Alumni Association. To commemorate the festive occasion, the HKBU Alumni Association launched a fundraising campaign earlier this year and successfully raised a total of HK$500,000 of which HK$260,000 was used to set up a scholarship for students in different disciplines. A Cheque Presentation Ceremony was held and attended by Executive Members of the Alumni Association and the University’s senior management to mark the memorable achievement. A pine tree was planted on campus to signify the perseverance and longevity of the HKBU spirit.

The finale of the Homecoming Day was the alumni dinner on Monday (28 October) attended by 380 participants. At the dinner, Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, presented a souvenir engraved with a poem he composed to Emeritus President Dr. Daniel Tse as a gift on his 80th birthday. Dr. Tse had also written a poem for the University as a token of appreciation.
