The School of Business joined hands with HKBU Century Club Limited and other organisations to co-host the 2013 LongXi NOVA (Hong Kong) competition in early August, attracting talent from various advertising agencies to participate in the annual advertising contest. The HKBU team, comprising two business students, was the only group from the tertiary education sector and was one of the eight teams selected to enter the final round.
Launched in 2007, LongXi NOVA is an annual competition covering the Greater China region which aims to provide the newcomers of the advertising industry with a platform to showcase their creativity. The competition was conducted over three days and consisted of two rounds. The 17 participating teams were required to present an advertising proposal to a panel of judges based on a given topic. Eight out of the 17 teams qualified as finalists. Two BBA students Ginny Wai (China Business Studies, Year 3) and Van Li (Finance, Year 3) successfully entered the final and gained valuable experience by competing with teams from other well-known advertising and public relations agencies.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Lin Zhijun, Acting Dean of the School of Business, said: “The School of Business is very honoured to be part of the LongXi NOVA competition, a significant event which is well recognised as the Oscars of the Chinese-language advertising industry. We believe that the competition will uncover the creative potential of the young generation.”
