Visual Arts graduates present Mingle-Mangle: AVA Graduation Exhibition 2013

20 Jun 2013

The sixth graduation exhibition of the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA) opened last Thursday (13 June) on the Kai Tak campus. Around 150 participants including local artists, art critics, professors and students from HKBU, other universities, and secondary schools, and members of the general public attended.

The theme “Mingle-Mangle” of the graduation exhibition reflects the combination of media in Visual Art studies in which the creation of an artwork could be based on several ideas or a simple thought, but the process of combining them together is more crucial. The exhibition displayed the work of 75 graduating students, showcasing their development over three years of studies at AVA and their transition to the professional world.

The AVA also invited three renowned artists, Dr. Chow Yiu-fai, Dr. Ho Siu-kee and Mr. Tang Kwok-hin, to speak at the Artist Talk held on 16 June. They shared insights on the position of local emerging artists. A panel of judges comprising professionals and scholars were invited to select outstanding work for various awards. A total of nine prizes were presented at the opening ceremony.

A flea market will be held on 29-30 June selling handmade art and recycled products created by AVA students or alumni. The exhibition will be on at the Kai Tak campus until 7 July (Sunday). For more details, please visit: http://ava.hkbu.edu.hk/gradshow2013.
