Zhemeng Xu is a PhD candidate in Sinology at KU Leuven (Belgium), supervised by Prof. Nicolas Standaert. She earned her bachelor's degree in Translation and Interpreting from Fudan University and her master's degree in Translation Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research focuses on translations collaboratively produced by European missionaries and Chinese literati during the late Ming and early Qing periods, with particular attention to both the roles played by Chinese figures in and around translation and the conceptual shifts enacted through translation. Her broader research interests include contacts between cultures, translation history, intellectual history, and Chinese Christianity. In her free time, she's a badminton enthusiast.
