Accomplishments

Students Ng Pui-yi, Li Ching-lam, Iu Cheuk-tung and fresh graduate Leung Hoi-laam from the Department of Journalism at the School of Communication, have been awarded the Bronze Award in the Tertiary Student Journalism Award category at the 23rd Consumer Rights Reporting Awards. Their award-winning piece was a news feature story published in the student publication San Po Yan, which exposed the issue of "queuing gangs" finding new tactics to circumvent the government's measures aimed at combating touting activities in the booking of public recreation and sports facilities.

In addition, seven Journalism alumni were also recognized for their outstanding works in various categories, including Investigative Reporting Award, Audio Reporting Award, Feature Writing Award, Video Reporting Award (Long Clip), and Best Use of Social Platform in Consumer Advocacy.

Organised by the Consumer Council, the Consumer Rights Reporting Awards seeks to acknowledge and recognize the contribution of local media practitioners in promoting consumer rights. This year's competition received a total of 373 entries from 42 news organisations, social media platforms, and local universities and colleges.
