HKBU School of Business held “Research Happy Hour”, gathering 30 internal and external business scholars to share their latest research insights and explore collaborations across disciplines over drinks and snacks on the evening of 30 November 2023.
In the sharing session, Dr. Qiguang WANG, Associate Professor from the Department of Accountancy, Economics and Finance, shared his recent study on "Cross-Firm Learning". He discussed the empirical measurement of cross-firm learnings and the potential impact of such learnings on corporate policies and asset pricing.
Dr. Jongsoo KIM, Assistant Professor from the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems, also presented his latest study on interventions or interference after the acquisition by the acquiring firms can lead to product quality failures at the acquired firms. He delved into the coordination problems in the innovation process and routines of the acquired firm and how to mitigate or intensify this problem.
Dr. Gang LI from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Dr. Yi TANG from the University of Hong Kong also joined the event as guest discussants. Dr. LI provided valuable suggestions on cross-firm viewings and concerns on corporate decision-making and determinants of a firm's performance. Dr. TANG exchanged ideas on the research ideas with the School's scholars, contributing to the rich discussion at the event.
Research Happy Hour aims to foster a multidisciplinary research culture within the School. It also provides scholars with a positive environment to explore more research collaborations and enrich their academic journey.
