Nineteen Public Relations and Advertising undergraduate students from the Department of Communication Studies, led by Dr Henry Fung, participated in a six-day academic study tour to Singapore from May 18 to May 23. The tour aimed to broaden students' understanding of communication practices in Southeast Asia and foster international connections.
The itinerary featured educational visits to prestigious institutions, such as the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), where students attended a lecture on digital storytelling by Ms. Shobi Pereira, a Lecturer in Professional Communications at RMIT University. At Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Dr. Lee Chu Keong, Senior Lecturer at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, delivered an insightful presentation on Singapore's media landscape.
Students also gained valuable industry perspectives during their visit to Edelman Singapore, where they met with CEO Ms. Delicia Tan and her team. Additionally, a visit to the Changi Airport training centre was also part of the agenda, where students attended a specialised talk on "Managing the best airport from a communication perspective."
The tour also encompassed visits to iconic landmarks such as Merlion Park, the National Gallery of Singapore, Gardens by the Bay, and Universal Studios Singapore, enriching the overall experience for the students.
